Consider Naming Tomten as Your Online Nonprofit Charity Choice

Do you post items on auction or buy or sell items using online marketers like Amazon, eBay, Etsy or iGive? Did you know that many bidders/buyers prefer to deal with sellers who believe in doing good…especially if the good they are doing benefits causes that buyers identify with, saving and helping animals?

That alone might be a good reason to name Tomten Farm and Sanctuary as your charity partner.

And then there is our Mission statement: We're an approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing peace, protection and possibility to animals in need. Helping animals, helping humans and making dreams come true one life at a time though rescue, sanctuary, adoption and education.

And even more important, the overwhelming need: Of domesticated animals used and killed by humans in the United States, over 99.6% are farmed animals, about 0.2% are animals used in laboratories, 0.07% are used for clothing, and 0.03% are killed in companion animal shelters. However, about 66% of donations to animal charities in the United States go to companion animal shelters, 32% go to groups with mixed or other activities, and just 0.8% of donations go specifically to farmed animal organizations, while 0.7% go to laboratory animal organizations.*

And, while we love (and rescue) cats and dogs that are in need too, most of the animals we save from slaughter are the ones who benefit the least from the public's donations: the cows, the goats, the sheep, the pigs, the horses, the rabbits, the ducks, the chickens, the  geese and the donkeys.

We at Tomten Farm and Sanctuary would appreciate your help in boosting that 0.8% donation rate for animals like ours. Selling and shopping online is one easy way to do it.

Smile! Your Amazon Purchases Can Help Tomten Farm and Sanctuary!

How about indulging in a little "shopping therapy"? Amazon makes it so darn easy! Just buy the things you were going to order anyway on AmazonSmile after you sign up and name Tomten Farm and Sanctuary as your charity of choice.

AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice…which we really hope will be Tomten Farm and Sanctuary!

Every item available for purchase on www.amazon.com is also available on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com) at the same price. You will see eligible products marked "Eligible for AmazonSmile donation" on their product detail pages.

And sometimes you can even double how you help Tomten, with just one purchase—our Wish List frequently asks for items readily available on Amazon. You'll be granting an animal's wish and a portion of that total purchase will be donated back to Tomten Farm and Sanctuary (as long as you are registered for AmazonSmile). Don't wait… gallop over to sign up for Amazon Smile now!

If You're Selling on eBay, We're Bidding for Your Support!

Here are just a few of the benefits of stating your intention to donate a portion of your sales to an approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit like Tomten Farm and Sanctuary:

  • Items tend to sell more often and at higher prices because buyers are more willing to purchase items that benefit a nonprofit
  • Your item will stand out because eBay adds a unique charity ribbon icon to the search view and the full details of the charity donation on the item description
  • Your item will appear in searches where buyers are specifically looking for items that benefit charity
  • If the item sells, your listing and final value fees will be discounted by the same percentage that you donated. For example if you donate 25% to charity then you will get a 25% discount on your listing and final value fees.

Etsy Sellers, Can We Sell YOU on Tomten Farm and Sanctuary?

Do you have an online Etsy Shop?

Whether you're a crafter, artist, collector, sell handmade creations, vintage goods or both handmade and non-handmade crafting supplier, naming Tomten Farm and Sanctuary as your nonprofit of choice could appeal to many of your buyers as well.

Unlike eBay, there is no registration program and you, the Etsy Shopkeeper, are free to choose whatever 501(c)(3) charity you want to support and forward the portion of your sales you have promised to donate directly to them. We like how easy that is and we hope you will consider naming Tomten Farm and Sanctuary as your Charity. We would enjoy the chance to establish a long-term relationship with you.

Imagine a shopping mall on your computer screen. The good news is that this ONLINE mall currently has 1,900+ stores…everything from Alex and Ani to  Zuma Office Supply. And naming Tomten Farm and Sanctuary as your charity of choice is easy. You don't need to enter any codes, notify the store, or iGive. It's all automatic!

The only bad news is that iGive hasn't found a way to get that sweet freshly baked Cinnabon® aroma that we all love to waft through your smart phone or computer screen as your fingers do the walking through all of their "stores."

Back to the plus side—they even offer coupons.

Here is how it works: You Shop. Your Charity Gets Money. For Free.™  We're hoping that the Charity you select to support through your purchases is Tomten Farm and Sanctuary.
